Getting started with LXD

LXD is the new containers engine that has been developed on top of LXC by Ubuntu, focused on “systems containers” instead of “applications containers”, so it competes with technologies like KVM (with a significant performance difference) more than with Docker.

But one of the most interesting things about LXD is that they are working on supporting CRIU: the ability to freeze a container and possibly migrate it to a different host, what could be a significant advantage in comparison with other containers technologies.
